Bioinformatician, Lund University
We are now strengthening our capacity in our NBIS support unit for cell and molecular biology with one position as a bioinformatician within the Department of Biology at Lund University. The successful applicant will be integrated in a national bioinformatics team, in an exciting research environment and will have many opportunities to further improve current skills and develop new skills to keep up with new sequencing technologies and other bioinformatics challenges as they emerge.
We are looking for an expert that will primarily provide advanced bioinformatic support to nationally prioritized Swedish research projects selected for scientific excellence in a wide range of studies related to cell and molecular biology. The projects will typically use omics data to determine how individual components of a biological system work together to produce a particular phenotype, in model systems as well as in a wide range of organisms.
Responsibilities include planning, initiating, executing and reporting bioinformatics analyses, communication with research groups, staying aware of current developments in the field and being a part of NBIS advanced bioinformatics training for the Swedish researchers. To create the conditions necessary to perform high-quality bioinformatics analyses, regular internal meetings and in-house training are held, and time is allocated for the development of individual skills.
The position will include a certain amount of travel to other Swedish universities, as knowledge exchange both within NBIS and externally is a key aspect to maintain cutting-edge expertise for analysis of current and emerging data types.
